Monek Bulgaria introduces a new generation energy solution: the VESS Vanadium Flow Battery!

The leading Bulgarian manufacturer in mechanical engineering and mining industry – Monek Bulgaria AD – officially introduces a new generation of vanadium redox flow battery (VESS). With this, the company becomes one of the first companies in the country and Eastern Europe that to successfully implement such innovative energy storage technology.

A technological advantage built for the future

The Vanadium Redox Float Battery (VESS) is a new generation power solution designed to meet the needs of industries and the growing challenges facing power system operators seeking balancing power with resilience, security and long service life. Unlike widely used standard batteries that are susceptible to overheating and characterized by inevitable and irreversible degradation over time, VESS offers a completely safe, consistent performance solution in every phase of its life cycle.

The battery allows 100% depth of charge and dischargewithout causing any loss of capacity (degradation). This makes it extremely suitable for intensive loads and operation in peak fluctuation mode, typical of solar and wind energy systems.

At the same time, the electrolyte is theoretically eternal, making the system 97% recyclable and with a lifetime of over 25 years without the need for replacement. Thanks to this, the VESS storage solution achieves the lowest total cost of electricity storage over the lifetime of the facility .

Technical features that impress

VESS industrial vanadium float battery is designed with scalability, sustainability and efficiency in mind. It is a new generation system specifically designed to provide reliable energy storage for a variety of industrial and infrastructure applications.

The battery has rated power of 480 kW, providing 8 hours of discharge time at a total capacity of 3840 kWh (3.84 MWh). This energy density makes it an excellent choice for load balancing, maintaining reserves or integration with renewable energy systems.

The system uses aqueous vanadium electrolyte solutionstored in four 50 cc tanks. This not only ensures safety in operation but also allows high flexibility in capacity management. The operating temperature range of the electrolyte is between 10°C and 40°C.

The system is designed for outdoor installation, with protection class IP54, and is resistant to various climatic conditions – from -20°C to +55°C. Cooling and ventilation requirements are minimized thanks to battery technology and conceptensuring optimum temperature during operation.

In addition, one of the key advantages of the VESS battery is the complete absence of fire risk, thanks to its non-combustible aqueous electrolyte and stable chemical structure.making it extremely safe even under extreme conditions and with high interest from financial and insurance institutions.

An additional advantage is that the system is compatible with BMS and SCADA platforms, allowing intelligent control and remote monitoring. Built-in protections and fail-safes increase safety and reliability during operation.

VESS - VRFB is not an alternative. It is the next logical step in energy storage.
